Aarogya Raksha literally means “protection of health,” with “Aarogya” meaning “health” and “Raksha” meaning “protection.” The goal of this health insurance program is to give high-quality healthcare services to everyone, regardless of their income level. We’ll look at the details of the Aarogya Raksha health insurance plan in this article.

What is Aarogya Raksha?

On January 1, 2017, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu introduced the Aarogyaraksha health insurance scheme. The goal of NTR Aarogya Raksha is to ensure that everyone has access to health insurance. As a result, Aarogya Raksha benefits both low-income and high-income households.

Features and Benefits of Aarogya Raksha:

Arogya Raksha is a one-of-a-kind health insurance program that allows beneficiaries to receive high-quality medical care.

Features of the Arogya Raksha Policy:

  • Cashless Services: Aarogyaraksha recipients do not have to worry about covering the entire expense of a medical emergency. This program offers cashless services at all impaneled hospitals.
  • A Large Number of Empanelled Institutions: One of the most appealing aspects of the scheme is that it covers both government and private hospitals. This is advantageous to the patient because he or she will spend less time traveling during a medical emergency and treatment will start sooner.

Benefits of Arogya Raksha:

  • Broad Range of Ailments Covered: Aarogya Raksha covers a large range of diseases. There are over 1059 therapies in total. This reduces the likelihood of a patient being turned down for treatment for a certain ailment.
  • Coverage for Follow-up Treatments: The Aarogya Raksha scheme offers this as a unique feature. It includes coverage for follow-up therapies, which might be costly for the patient and his or her family.
  • Ayurvedic Therapy Coverage: If a recipient desires to receive Ayurvedic treatment in a Government Hospital, the scheme will cover it. Treatment at any hospital accredited by the Quality Council of India/National Accreditation Board on Health is covered.

Arogya Raksha Premium and Beneficiaries:

The amount of beneficiaries covered by Aarogya Raksha is divided into three plans. The plan’s sum insured goes from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh. Here are the specifics:

  1. Plan A: This plan covers the account holder, two dependent children, and a spouse and has a 35-year departure age. This plan’s premium ranges from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 14500.
  2. Plan B: This plan covers the account holder, two dependent children, and a spouse until they reach the age of 70. This plan’s premium ranges from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 25500.
  3. Plan C: This plan covers the account holder, two dependent children, dependent parents, and a spouse until they reach the age of 70. This plan’s premium ranges from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 62500.

What is Not Covered?

Exclusions are situations that are not covered by an insurance policy. Exclusions are not covered by insurance, and the insurer is not obligated to compensate the insured. If a claim for such exclusions is still being made, it will be denied. The Aarogya Raksha health scheme has the following exclusions:

  • Vaccination or inoculation costs, unless they are required as part of a treatment for an animal bite.
  • Plastic or cosmetic surgery costs, unless they are required as a result of an accident. Cosmetic surgery performed for aesthetic reasons that do not result from an accident is not covered.
  • Gender transition surgeries
  • Expenses for spectacles, contact lenses, or hearing aids
  • Expenses for vision correction
  • As a result of an accident, dental surgery is required. A dental procedure performed for aesthetic reasons that do not result from an accident is not covered.
  • Obesity treatment
  • Expenses associated with psychiatric and psychosomatic disorders
  • Attempted suicide
  • Suicide
  • Infertility or sterility
  • Venereal disease

Claim Process of Aarogya Raksha:

There are two ways to file a claim against the Aarogyaraksha policy. Regardless of the type of claim, the government has ensured that it would be resolved in a smooth and timely manner.

  1. Cashless Claims: If a beneficiary desires to make a cashless claim, he or she must seek treatment in a network hospital. Network hospitals are healthcare providers that have been pre-approved to provide cashless treatment to Aarogyaraksha policyholders. For reference, the beneficiary will be given a list of network hospitals. The TPA must approve treatment before it can begin, and cashless claims can be filed. Only the extra amount, if any, is due from the beneficiary.
  2. Reimbursement Claim: This is a form of claim in which the beneficiary pays the full cost of treatment and then seeks reimbursement from the insurer. This benefit is available at any hospital, regardless of its empanelment status. When a beneficiary has appropriate financial aid and desires to visit a hospital of his or her choice, a reimbursement claim is advantageous.

The beneficiary or family members must notify the TPA within 24 hours of being admitted to the hospital. For the goal of making a reimbursement claim, they should gather papers like prescriptions, discharge summaries, reports and bills, receipts, and so on.

Claim for Follow-up Treatment:

The beneficiary does not have to pay for a follow-up treatment, but hospitals must give the following information to the insurance company in order to receive a claim settlement:

  • Proof of follow-up services once every three months
  • Consultation information
  • Investigation reports
  • List of medicines prescribed/provided
  • Patients’ acknowledgment of drugs
  • Photographs showing that the patient has acknowledged the given medicines
  • Scanned copies of bills and diagnostic tests
  • The disease’s name and code number as listed on the package list for which the patient is being treated

Beneficiaries of the scheme can fill out Aarogya Raksha Claim Forms. Because the form will be used to settle claims, please fill out all of the information completely and in block letters.

How to Check Aarogya Raksha Claim Status?

The status of an Aarogya Raksha claim can be reviewed by calling the plan’s customer service number or directly contacting the TPA/insurance firm.

Aarogya Raksha Follow Up Packages:

A medical emergency can be broken down into several parts. Follow-up treatment is one of these components. Treatment may be less effective if it is not followed up on properly. As a result, the Aarogya Raksha scheme provides cashless follow-ups for some therapies. Here are the specifics:

  1. Aarogyaraksha covers diagnostic tests, consultations, medicines, and other medical expenses.
  2. Cashless follow-up treatment begins on the 11th day after hospital discharge. A patient who is eligible for Aarogya Raksha benefits can receive follow-up services for up to a year.
  3. There is no need to file a new claim for follow-up therapy.
  4. The follow-up packets are separated into four pieces, each representing one year’s four quarters. The first quarter receives higher funding since there is a greater need for follow-up during this period following hospitalization.
  5. MEDCO and VAIDYAMITHRA collaborate to make these treatments possible.

The price of each follow-up package can be seen on Aarogya Raksha’s official website. The follow-up registration form can also be used to maintain track of your treatment and visits.
